Pests, pests, and more pests

Ahh the challenges of gardening. I sprayed everything with BTK this morning. I hate doing this because it is fatal to butterfly larvae but we have what’s become an annual infestation of winter moths larvae and canker worms. Not sure the BTK will be effective since it is from last year and may not have overwintered well in the garage. We shall see.

Hmmm… I've never heard of BTK before, I might have to check that out. We don't usually have much of a problem with pests except for the white aphids (or whatever they are) that infest the cabbage, collards, kale and related plants when it gets too hot. I bought some neem oil and was going to try that this year. Any suggestions?

    • The grasshoppers are eating us alive this year, I have tiny ones hopping all over my garden. My poor beans can't even get their first leaves unfurled before they are decimated. I just started some garlic oil today to try on the plants tomorrow. I found several similar formulations on the web. Never tried it before but have my fingers crossed that it will work.
