My Reliance grapes were planted last year so this is their second growing season. As you can see, I am training the vines up the side of the trellis. In the fall I will cut them back hard, leaving only the one vertical as my main stem. Right now, I just want them to grow good strong root systems. The south facing location appears to be a winner.

We planted grapes about 6 years ago and last year was our first real harvest. I'm hoping they continue to grow and do well…
PAC's grandfather used to pick off beetles from his grape vines with one gloved hand and a jar of kerosene in the like protected other. Uncertain now what he did with the then expired invaders. Will ask JAE. He might remember.
Senior Brain happening. JAE clarified turpentine being the liquid Poppi used to keep the beetles from overtaking his grape vines. Because it was circa 1968 what happened with the drowned beetles is a buried memory.
