first failure of the season

cauliflower 2010-04-29Two weeks after planting, our first attempt at cauliflower is a dismal failure. We’re not sure what went wrong here but the poor seedlings just seemed to wilt. Their roots look to be all desiccated below the soil line. It’s hard to tell if something was nibbling on them or not. Could be a bad batch from the local garden center. These were all planted in the same bed. We have one remaining plant in a different bed that seems to be doing fine.
