The last weekend of September and another nice harvest. This has been the growing season that just keeps on giving. Yet all good things must come to an end and it’s time to begin clearing out the beds so we can prepare them for next growing season which, by the way, begins in February .

There is something fundamentally magical about a pepper’s transition in color from green to red. Perhaps it’s a personal bias against the commonplace, after all green peppers are ubiquitous. Red peppers, whether hot or sweet, are simply beautiful in the garden. And they provide vibrancy and visual appeal to whatever dish you add them to. It absolutely drives me insane to see red peppers selling for $3 or $4 per pound in the grocery. Just one more reason to grow your own and freeze them for future use. …continue reading

The dear wife is behind on her seed starting this year so I’m trying to hedge my bets a little bit and get an early jump on this warm weather by supplementing our efforts with commercially grown seedlings.
