mediaOrganic is located on 3/4 of an acre in Westwood, Massachusetts, a community of about 15,000 residents outside of Boston. We are at the edge of zone 6/7 with a lovely mix of microclimates.

Brighter Planet's 350 Challenge

raspberries-2009-05-23-02.jpgI tried growing raspberries last year without much success. I had purchased smaller canes at Lowes, both red and black raspberries, but my choice of location didn’t offer enough sun. This spring, only 4 of the 12 canes reemerged. My success with the blackberries I planted earlier this year gave me confidence to give raspberries another try. So when I found these beauties at the local garden center I couldn’t resist even though, at the time, I had no idea where I was going to plant them. Now I’m even more perplexed because they are labeled “Quatre Saisons” or Four Seasons. However, I cannot find a reference to this variety anywhere on the web except for several books published over 100 years ago. I have no idea when these babies are going to bear fruit or what diseases they are susceptible to. I guess that’s part of the mystery of gardening. If anyone has any information about these I would love you to share it. More photos can be found in our raspberry gallery.
